A Couple of NU Images
September 23rd, 2008
I have an interesting relationship with the NU project. On one hand, I really love doing the work and I love peoples’ reaction to it and the amount of people around the world that email me. On the other hand, it’s really hard to devote too many resources or too much time to it because of the simple fact that it makes me no money whatsoever. I think that’s why I love it too, though, because it doesn’t pay. As soon as the senior rush / wedding rush / move is over I think I’m going to get back to shooting it.
Soon To Launch | the NU blog

So I suffer from the same disease that all people who maintain websites suffer from: the fail-to-update disease. I start a site, work on it for a while, and then it becomes way too much effort to maintain it. This is where the blog interface steps in…
I’m in the process of converting the NU project to a blog site with an image gallery which I’m hoping will go a long way to making it easier to update so that there’s something new to view every week (I know this works because ya’ll keep coming back). It’s going to look a lot like this blog, and my wedding and portrait blog, but a different header and different menu items and people without clothes.
Here are a couple images that I shot last week in preparation of the new site launch. Thank you again to all the people who participate. It’d be pretty hard to keep shooting without you.

Lights + Darks

These are some images from a shoot today. I did actually retouch the color profile image so I thought I’d make that know since I’m all about not retouching the images for the NU project.

Thanks!

The second one down was actually shot with a tilt/shift lens. That’s why the focus plane is shifted.

Some of my favorites from the NU project! Keep it up! What were your camera settings for the 2nd one down? Did you use photoshop to dodge and burn? I like the mystery of not being able to see every detail of the body. Very tasteful!
A Couple Nudes From Yesteryear

These images are from the archives. Most were shot in 2006 or 2007. It’s interesting to me to go back through the archives and see which images catch my eye after a couple years.

Five for NU.

These images came from a shoot yesterday. The un-model is 7 months pregnant and having an easy pregnancy. I think there’s something so amazing about childbirth and pregnancy. The more I shoot for this project and work with subjects who are pregnant the more I realize some of the sacrifices that women make for their children (and, let’s be honest, husbands). I know that these images aren’t the typical maternity shots that people do with a women wrapped in a cloth, outside in a field, etc… These are honest ‘as-it-was’ shots. No attempt has been made to hide the effects of pregnancy nor make it look like sunshine and roses.
